Internet code of ethics, referred to as netiquette

Here is a summary of netiquette, the Internet code of ethics:

Netiquette is the set of rules of behavior for proper online interaction. It derives from the union of the English words “net” (network) and “etiquette” (etiquette). These rules aim to promote respectful and effective communication in cyberspace.

Basic principles include:

  1. Respect: Treat other users with courtesy, avoiding insults or offensive language.
  2. Privacy: Do not share others’ personal information without permission.
  3. Relevance: Keep discussions on topic, avoiding off-topic.
  4. Conciseness: Be brief and clear in posts, respecting others’ time.
  5. Formatting: Use upper and lower case letters correctly; avoid “CAPS LOCK” which is equivalent to shouting online.
  6. Copyright: Respect copyrights by citing sources when sharing content.
  7. Spam: Avoid sending unsolicited advertisements or repetitive content.
  8. Flame: Do not participate in heated or provocative discussions, known as “flame wars.”
  9. Security: Do not intentionally spread malware or viruses.
  10. Lurking: Observe the dynamics of an online community before actively participating.

Following these rules helps to create a more harmonious and productive digital environment.

I also add a rule that applies to both you and me, which is tolerance; mistakes are forgiven, but not insistence. Unless there is a justified reason. Thanks to all of you!
